Camila Valdez Argentine, b. 1984

Biography

If a cupcake is good-looking eye candy, it's saying come and get me.

Camila Valdez is an Argentine industrial designer and artist born in 1984. She is based in Buenos Aires. She blends industrial design with sculpture to create sweet anthropomorphic figures at tabletop and human scale. Objects speak to her through color, shape, and style; she answers by giving inanimate treats human poses, outfits that change with the seasons, and a playful invitation to enter their world. She was selected for five consecutive years by the National Salon of Visual Arts in Argentina beginning in 2013; in 2016 her sculpture Do not Donut received a Mention Diploma at the Palais de Glace. In 2019 her work was shown alongside Salvador Dalí and Wayne Thiebaud at the Bedford Gallery, Lesher Center for the Arts, Walnut Creek, California. She is presented by The Wall Art Gallery, Miami. Training: Industrial Designer, Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA), FADU, 2010; Patisserie, Chocolate and Candy Design, Institute of Pastelería Maestra (INPM), Buenos Aires, 2010; Theatrical and creative scenography studies, UBA, 2009; School of Special Effects (SFX), Buenos Aires, 2001.
