Russell Young British, b. 1959
Russell Young was born in Yorkshire in 1959. He studied photography, film, and graphic design at Chester Art College and later worked in London, assisting photographer Christos Raftopoulos.
He photographed live shows by Bauhaus, R.E.M., and The Smiths, and shot high-profile portraits and the sleeve for George Michael’s Faith album. After relocating toward fine art, series such as Pig Portraits and later diamond-dust works on cultural icons defined his practice. He lives and works in New York and California. He is presented by The Wall Art Gallery, Miami.
