Alberto Echegaray Guevara (Cayman) Argentine, b. 1970
Paper money is an optical illusion created by governments and people.
Alberto Echegaray Guevara, also known as Cayman, is an Argentine artist born in 1970. He lives and works in Buenos Aires.
His practice builds a hybrid relationship between money, technology, and universal codes. Site-specific sculptures, video installations, and collages examine how consumerism and global monetary systems shape spiritual and social values. Materials have included Murano blown glass, major world currencies, and noble metals such as gold, silver, platinum, and steel.
He holds a Master of Arts in Policy Management from Georgetown University, graduate credentials from the École Nationale d'Administration in Paris, executive education from Harvard Business School, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Argentina's Military Academy and the U.S. Military Academy. He is a former cavalry officer in the Argentine army.
His work has been presented in institutional and fair contexts including the Venice Biennale (2019, 2022) and, in 2024–25, at the Central Bank of Argentina. He is presented by The Wall Art Gallery, Miami.
