Charlotte Rose Scottish, b. 1998
There is a strange and unique bond between us and corporations.
Charlotte Rose is a Scottish pop artist born in Aberdeen in 1998. She lives and works in London. Fascinated by the nostalgic cigarette branding of the late twentieth century, she works predominantly on large wooden panels and canvas in acrylic and oil. Each painting revisits the "dream" sold by companies to push poisonous goods — pairing commercial packaging with literary anchors from Shakespeare to Vonnegut. Series such as The Shakespeare Tobacco Company and Macbeth (A Dagger of the Mind) make that critique vivid and graphic. She graduated in 2021 with a degree in creative writing. Her debut solo, I Quit Last Week (2021, Fitzrovia, London), sold out after she built an audience through Instagram. Collectors have included Yungblud, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Jimmy Anderson, and Bimini Bon Boulash; collaborations include Coach, Jo Malone, and Gucci. She has exhibited in London, Austin, and Miami. She is presented by The Wall Art Gallery, Miami. Training: Creative writing degree, graduated 2021.
