Frieze New York 2024, held from May 1–5 at The Shed in Hudson Yards, featured 68 galleries from 25 countries and attracted around 25,000 visitors from 66 nations. The fair demonstrated market resilience with strong sales and high-profile attendance. Major sales included Doris Salcedo’s "Disremembered XIV" for $1 million at White Cube, Ed Clark’s "Ying and Yang" for $800,000, and a stainless steel sculpture by Tony Cragg for €725,000.
The Focus section, curated by Lumi Tan and backed by Stone Island, spotlighted emerging and underrepresented artists, with standout presentations by Luana Vitra at Mitre Galeria and Yehwan Song at G Gallery in Seoul. Over half of the exhibitors had New York-based spaces, and the fair partnered with local nonprofits like Artists Space and High Line Art to strengthen community ties. Dealers reported robust interest from collectors, with many booths selling out entirely. Representatives from major galleries emphasized New York’s continued importance in the global art market, reinforcing the city’s role as a cultural and commercial hub for contemporary art.
