The Dream Tree of Oz is an original fine art painting by Ashvin Harrison — a magnificent fusion of realism, imagination, and wonder. This enchanting large-scale composition captures a moment suspended between dream and destiny, as Dorothy and Toto step beyond the known world and into the shimmering path toward Oz.
At the heart of the work stands a colossal tree — its charcoal trunk rising in lifelike detail, its branches sprawling into an explosion of emerald, jade, turquoise, and soft pastel hues. Layers of paint create depth and movement throughout the canopy, built through hundreds of splashes and subtle gemstone-like circular formations. Using a power drill-fitted brush technique, Harrison has formed swirling textures beneath the expressive splatters, evoking the sparkle and refraction of precious stones glinting through the leaves.
The open door at the base of the tree reveals a portal: a glimpse into the vivid world beyond. There, Dorothy and her faithful companion Toto begin their journey along the yellow brick road, leading to the distant Emerald City. The moment is tender and timeless — a symbolic crossing from safety to adventure, from innocence to awakening, from dream to becoming.
The Dream Tree of Oz embodies Harrison’s signature Motusrealism style, where the precision of realism meets the freedom of abstraction. It speaks of courage, curiosity, and the quiet beauty of stepping into the unknown — a visual metaphor for growth and creative discovery.
