A generation refers to all the people born and living at about the same time, regarded collectively. The sculpture is connected with systemic constellations, a method of addressing issues within human systems. "Ancestral patterns are embedded in our DNA, and they're unconscious."

Developed in the late 1960s by Bert Hellinger, a German psychotherapist and former Catholic priest, Family Constellations is a therapeutic method that aims for peace and healing regarding the longstanding effects of unresolved familial conflicts. After our birth, the next crucial moment is the movement towards the mother, now facing us, who takes us to her breast and feeds us. With her milk, we take life outside of her.
What makes us successful here and prepares us for later success in our lives and professions? Taking her as the source of our life, with everything that flows from her to us. With her, we take our life. Just as a person rejoices in their mother, they rejoice in life and work. As the mother gives more and more, if taken from her with love, life and work bring success to the same extent.

Hellinger has developed a unique, highly effective method to help people resolve their entanglements with the difficult fates of family members in this and preceding generations. Often, a facilitator will place representatives for parents, grandparents, and even great-grandparents in a line behind a representative. Each one places their hands on the shoulders of the descendant in front of them, bringing a feeling of tremendous strength and empowerment to the representative.

The sculpture represents the hands of the mother and the orders of love in the soul that support all our relationships. In 2015, the artist collaborated with Marina Abramovich at the BP.15 (Bienal Performance), working on performance and its relationship with systemic collaborations. The focus of those works was the mother entanglements inside us and their effects on our lives.
